Earbuds are intimate items. Most people use their earbuds for prolonged periods during the day, which makes choosing the right pair of earbuds really important. If you’re looking for the best earbuds with mics that the market has to offer, you’ve definitely come to the right place. You might also be interested in our articles about the best smartphone microphones and the best wireless microphones.
Finding the best available earbuds is not an easy task though, for a simple reason: there are just so many of them out there. The market has literally tons of earbuds of all sizes, shapes colors, prices and most importantly: quality. The quality and prices of earbuds that are available on the market can vary significantly. As paying more doesn’t always mean getting the best bang for your buck, knowing how to choose the perfect earbuds is always the best way to start the journey of finding the perfect here buds. Below are the top 3 things that you need to keep in mind when choosing your new earbuds:
1. Fit & Comfort
It’s not a surprise that choosing an earbud that fits you properly and comfortably is on the top of our list. It goes without saying that if you hate having those things on, you won’t enjoy any sound that comes out of them. As earphones with mics are also useful for taking calls, people tend to have them on for even longer periods. With plenty of available shapes and sizes, it might be hard to decide which one will fit you best.
To choose a pair of earbuds with mic that gives you the best results in terms of fit and comfort, the first thing that you need to ask yourself is what exactly will you use them for? Will you use your earbuds during your daily commute? Perhaps you plan on using them when on your daily run? Knowing how exactly you will use them can help you eliminate the models that simply won’t work for your particular needs. Another thing to consider when choosing a comfortable pair of earbuds is your own “earbud history”. If you’ve owned a pair of earbuds before (who hasn’t?) that you’ve been comfortable using, you already have an idea about the shape of the earbuds that works for you.
2. Sound Quality
When it comes to “sound quality”, there are plenty of factors that come into play. It isn’t just about how good the audio sounds, things like sound isolation and noise cancellation play a crucial role in the overall sound experience. If you’re not familiar with those terms, you don’t have to worry about it, they are pretty simple to understand.
Sound isolation is a physical feature that makes the earphones block surrounding noise and prevent them from interfering with the music that you’re playing. On the other hand, noise cancellation electronically cancels sounds that might cause a disturbance. Together, noise cancellation and sound isolation help make the overall sound quality of your earbuds much better. If your earbuds don’t have those features, you’re definitely missing out, especially if you plan on using them in a noisy place (which is pretty much everywhere).
3. Mic Quality
Earbuds with mics are as good as the mic. Otherwise, they’re just earbuds! Considering the fact that the vast majority of people use their earbuds with their cellphones, having a decent mic has become a really important feature.
Aside from listening to music, those earbuds are frequently used to take calls. A good mic can simply be the difference between a smooth experience and have to take your earbuds off whenever you receive a call, which is anything but convenient. Now that you’re familiar with what makes a pair of earbuds awesome, let’s dive in and have a look at some of the best available models on the market.
When it comes to quality audio, Bose is a name that needs no introduction. There are just so many great quality Bose earbuds, and this is one of the best. If you’re looking for some high-quality earbuds to use while you jog or workout, you’ll definitely love the Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones. The design of those Bose earbuds is just amazing. Asides from the impressive aesthetics and build quality, those earbuds are designed to actually stay in your ear while you’re jogging. Unlike some other models (you know who we’re talking about!), those wireless earbuds are connected to each other.
Aside from reducing the risk of dropping those earbuds, this makes them much harder to lose. When you’re paying a premium price for a high-quality item, losing it so easily is definitely the last thing that you need. As for the sound quality, it’s nothing short of what you’d typically expect from a Bose product. Things like noise cancellation and sound isolation are top tier in this product.
To make the overall experience even better, the Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones has a compatible app that can be used for a more personalized experience and more fine-tuned audio quality. Those earbuds are also IPX4-certified, which means that splash water damage or sweat is not something that you’ll ever worry about.
When it comes to the mic quality, it’s amazing on these earbuds. Taking calls sounded great and was super-clear to the person on the other side. When you have them on, you’ll only want to take them off when you’re done. Thanks to the 5-hour battery life per charge, you can take your time with those workouts.

If the earphone market, it is not very common to see a product that offers something truly innovative. Those earbuds by Etymotic Research are a true exception to this rule. What makes those earbuds truly stand out is their innovative design that allows for an impressive level of noise isolation. When it comes to noise isolation, the perks are much more than enjoying clear music and isolating yourself from the surrounding noise. When you’re listening to music in a noisy place, you risk listening unsafe levels that can damage your ears in the long term. Coupled with an amazing sound quality, the HF3 earphones deliver an exceptional music experience, especially for its price range.
These earbuds come in two options, with or without a mic. However, after trying the version that has the microphone, we were really impressed by the mic’s quality. The buttons on the mic are tactile and have a premium feel to them. The cable of these earbuds is reinforced for extra durability. As earbuds tend to receive a relatively harsh treatment, reinforced cables are always a welcome feature.
One thing that we particularly like about these earbuds is the carrying case that comes with them. Aside from having an amazing design, the material quality of this carrying case is simply impressive. Considering the price range of these earbuds, the value for money is just too good to ignore.
- Good carrying case
- Excellent noise isolation
- Durable cable
- Great value for money
Best Buy Earbuds with Mic
If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly alternative to the Bose SoundSport Wireless Headphones, the Tribit XFree Wireless Earbuds are definitely what you’re looking for. When it comes to sports earbuds, things like water resistance, battery life, and comfort are really important. Those earbuds from Tribit excel in all of those things, and more.
The first thing that we loved about the XFree earbuds is the fact that they’re so comfortable. Thanks to its ergonomic design and customizable tip, those earbuds are comfortable and will endure your workout with ease. Being connected to each other and the fact that they can be clipped together using a magnet means that they’re pretty difficult to lose. When you’re not using them, you can simply clip them together around your neck. As they’re made of a lightweight aluminum material, you’ll simply forget that they’re even there.
It goes without saying that the Tribit XFree earbuds are water proof, which helps them make it through those sweaty workout sessions. We really loved the quality of the mic on those earbuds however, we’re not 100% satisfied with the location of the volume and accept/end call buttons. Some people might like it but we thought they were kind of too close to the earpiece.
Asides from all of the great features of those earbuds, the thing that really stood out about this model is the INSANE battery life. With just 1.5 hours of charging time, this thing can last for a whopping 10 hours, which makes it one of the best battery lives that we have on our list.
- Great battery life
- Proper fit
- Great for sports activities
If you’re looking for sports earbuds that are super-durable and comfortable at the same time, those ones from TaoTronics are definitely what you’re looking for. When it comes to this fitting tip that most sports earbuds have, let’s say that it’s just a matter of taste. Some people find them totally uncomfortable. That’s why TaoTronics have opted for a comfortable earhook to hold their earphones in place.
What makes this earhook even more comfortable is the material that it’s made of and the fact that it has 360-degree adjustability. No matter the shape or the size of your ears, these earbuds can adjust to provide maximum comfort. In addition, to be really comfortable, those earbuds have something that many other models lack, which is IPX6 water resistance. Having such a high level of water resistance means that not only are those earbuds resistant to damage from sweating, but they can also endure harsher conditions like rain.
Another thing that is great about this model is its decent battery life. With up to 8 hours per charge, these earbuds are definitely on the higher end when it comes to battery life. When it comes to audio quality, the CSR8645 chip that is used in this model makes a huge difference. In addition to the integrated chip, noise cancellation and sound isolation features result in a pure sound experience that is often found on much more expensive models.
As for the mic on those earbuds, it provides some spectacular sound quality thanks to the fact that it has noise cancellation technology as well. Even while running or standing somewhere windy, the mic was able to deliver some great audio quality, which makes these earbuds an overall great value for money with incredible performance.
- IPX6 water resistance
- Comfortable design
- Decent battery life
The SoundMoov Bluetooth Earphones are another pair of earbuds that follows the steps of Apple’s AirPods. What makes these earbuds similar to the Apple AirPods is the completely wireless design and the charging box. However, the design of the earpieces is completely different, and some might argue that they’re even better than that of AirPods in some aspects. The larger size and the earpiece design give it a really good fit. If you plan on using these earphones in the gym, they’ll do just fine. However, if you plan on using it for some kind of outdoor jogging, we don’t really recommend it.
When it comes to sound quality, SoundMoov’s earbuds provided satisfactory audio quality. Also, the ability to function simultaneously is a noteworthy perk. Each of the two earpieces can operate individually, which is awesome for sharing music. Despite its overall decent performance, there is one aspect of those earbuds that we found lackluster, which is the battery life. Each of those earbuds is able of contentiously working for 2 hours, which will give you 4 hours top if you use each of the earpieces separately. Compared to some other models that last up to 10 hours per charge, this is really low.
However, since the earpieces come with a portable charging box and given the fact that they can operate simultaneously, the battery life issue wasn’t really that bothersome in real life usage. If the charging box wasn’t included though, it would have been a completely different story.
We didn’t face any issues with this model’s call quality. It also has a really nice feature called privacy call, which makes the audio when having a call transferred through the main earpiece only to ensure maximum privacy.
- Comes with a charging box
- Slick design
- Great audio quality
Best Earbuds with Mic for iPhone
Bang & Olufsen is one of the big names in the speaker’s industry. If you’re looking for a pair of earbuds that prioritizes sound quality over anything else, you’ll definitely love the B&O PLAY. You’ve probably noticed that those premium B&O earbuds are wired. For people without deep knowledge of the earphone industry, it might seem strange that such a high-end model doesn’t connect via Bluetooth or any other wireless connectivity method. However, the reason behind this is really simple, which is maximizing sound quality.
No matter how good a pair of wireless speakers is, wired earphones still provide a superior audio quality and isn’t affected by any of the surroundings as it takes the sound directly from the device right to your ears. As a result, you get to experience music the way it was meant to be. Another cool feature about these earbuds is their elegant design. As they are crafted from a solid aluminum block, the build quality of these earbuds is simply astounding.
Despite the amazing sound and build quality, those earbuds aren’t made to withstand harsh treatment. They are not waterproof and shouldn’t be treated the same way as some of the “tougher” models on our list. Those earbuds are made for people who want to enjoy an excellent music experience throughout their normal daily lives, so we can’t recommend those as your typical gym earbuds.
Taking calls with the B&O PLAY was as smooth as it was expected to be. We hear calls loud and clear and the people on the other side heard us as clearly, so no problem there. If you’re looking for a pair of earbuds that delivers a superior sound experience without any unnecessary bells and whistle, the B&O PLAY is what you’re looking for.
- Elegant design
- Mind-blowing sound quality
- Excellent build quality
If you’re looking for a pair of earbuds with a sleek design, excellent sound quality at a good price, the Symphonized NRG 3.0 is where your search ends. The untraditional material provides a premium feel and makes the Symphonized NRG 3.0 really stand out.
In addition to the out-of-the-box material choice, those earbuds sound really good, especially for their price. Sounds are crystal-clear and the level of noise isolation is great with this model. The NRG 3.0 also had some impressive bass levels, which definitely add to the overall sound experience. To make those earbuds convenient for users with different ear sizes, it comes with three different sizes of ear tips. All you have to do is try the tips and swap the existing tip with the one that you feel is most comfortable. If you don’t like stuffing your earbuds into your pocket, the NRG 3.0 comes with a free carrying pouch, which is definitely a nice addition. As for the call quality, the Symphonized NRG 3.0 performed fairly well, there was nothing exceptional though. We could hear and were heard loud and clear, which is for us is more than enough for a decent calling experience.
- Unique wooden design
- Deep bass
- Free carrying pouch
Another excellent product from Bose. What makes these earbuds really stand out is their remarkable noise canceling capabilities. Now, when we say outstanding, we really mean it. Once you plug those earbuds into your ear and turn on the noise cancellation mode, there is nothing between you and your music but absolute silence. Even if you’re not listening to music while you have them on, those earbuds can give you moments of silence in the noisiest places.
In fact, the noise cancellation feature in this earphone is so powerful that it comes with a mode called “aware mood”, which overrides the electronic noise cancellation so you can actually hear what’s going on around you. In addition to the exceptionally-powerful noise canceling feature, you’ll get everything that you’d typically expect from a Bose product. Top-tier audio quality -as well as call quality- is kind of a standard that we don’t even need to talk about.
The QuietComfort 20 also comes with an awesome carrying case that is super handy for carrying the earbuds with you when you’re not using them. If you’re looking for some superior quality earbuds and willing to shell out some extra cash, the Bose QuietComfort 20 is highly recommended.

If you’re looking for earbuds to use for an outdoor activity, the AS600IG has something unique to offer. Thanks to its bone conducting technology, those earbuds deliver sound directly to your inner ear. The AS600IG aren’t even placed on your ear, instead, they are placed in front of it as they deliver the sound directly to the inner ear.
This feature isn’t some technology gimmick. By not blocking your ear you have full awareness of your surroundings, which is very important for some activities like cycling. Asides from this impressive technology, those earbuds deliver great audio and call quality, which was kind of surprising considering their unorthodox design and not-so-common technology.
As for the frame, it’ made of titanium material that provides extreme durability and flexibility at the same time. Another feature that we found impressive about these earbuds is the battery life. With up to 6 hours per charge, those earbuds are more capable of getting you through the day. Another thing that we really loved about those earbuds –if we can call them that! – is the fact that they come in 4 different awesome colors to choose from so they kind of fit all styles.
- Innovative bone conduction technology
- Impressive battery life
- Durable material
- Awesome colors

Best Budget/Cheap Earbuds with Mic
The VAVA Flex earphones are an excellent choice for shoppers on a tight budget. Despite being a budget choice, those earbuds can really punch above their weight. As for the sound quality, the VAVA Flex really surprised us. It has a clear sound and a really deep bass, which was surprising considering the price tag. Another cool feature that is related to the sound quality is the ability to switch between two modes by rotating the earbuds. By doing so, you can switch the sound mode from natural to deep bass depending on your preference. The quality of calls that this model provides is also pretty decent with no apparent issues.
It is worth mentioning it has a very durable cable that is capable of handling harsh treatment. Durability isn’t the only remarkable thing about this cable. As the wiring is made from oxygen-free copper, it is capable of delivering a pure audio quality. Despite all of the surprisingly good features of those earbuds, the carrying case that comes with it was the most surprising. When you’re paying a relatively low price for a pair earbuds, you simply don’t expect it to come with such a nice carrying case.
If the VAVA Flex earbuds were to be summarized in two words, they would be “incredible value”. You just get way too much for what you pay for with those earbuds, which makes them one of the best bang for the buck on our list.
- Great value for the money
- Durable cable
- Deep bass and normal modes
