Welcome to the Fab@Home Cables Page

From here you can find more detailed information about the cables required by each type of Fab@Home fabber.

Fab@Home Model 2 Cables

The Model 2 is wired by standard Cat5 cables between the snap hub and each of the motors. Any standard network cable will work.

The motors correspond to the following ports on the snap hub.

  • X axis motor --> Port 1
  • Y axis motor --> Port 2
  • Z axis motor --> Port 3
  • Left tool motor (bay 0) --> Port 4
  • Right tool motor (bay 1) --> Port 5

The snap motors include cables, however they are excessively long. For neat results use:

  • 2 ft cables for the tool and z axis motors.
  • 1 ft cables for the x and y axis motors.

Secure with cable ties or removable cable clips using the holes provided in the chassis.

The snap hub is connected to the control computer with a standard A/B USB cable. Power is provided by an external power brick included with the snap hub.
