Although painting coffee filters is usually idea of as some child's craft, adults might enjoy this uncomplicated act of creating at the end of some hectic day. Painted butterflies can brighten refrigerators, windows, Christmas trees also even your car's rear-view mirror.

1 Pass on a plastic table covering over your workspace. Don't use newspaper, because the ink might stain the coffee filter.
2 Flatten any white coffee filter on the table.
3 Paint the entire surface of the coffee filter for your favorite watercolor shades. The watercolors will bleed inside every additional, creating a rainbow impact.
4 Delay for the coffee filter to waterless.
5 Fold the dried coffee filter accordion-model into 1/2-inch pleats.
6 Wrap the two closures of the pipe cleaner once around the center of the pleated coffee filter, and form them into the butterfly's antennae.
8 Hang the butterfly from a Christmas tree together with craft wire, or tie it with a fishing line to hang in any window.
Tips & Warnings
Paint only a single part of the coffee filter, plus then fold it with half to make the wing colors identical. To create some magnetic butterfly, paint a clothespin black, clip it onto the pipe cleaner with the center of the folded coffee filter and glue a magnet to the clothespin. Instead of watercolors, substitute water-soluble color pens or food-coloring dyes.
