The valve tool has an external pressure supply extruding the material and two snap motors regulating it. It can hold bigger syringes than the worm drive syringe tool, allowing larger prints without changing the syringe. Also, the valve tool greatly simplifies the parameters that need to be changed when the material is changed. Materials that react with air cannot be used in the valve tool, however. Also, the valve tool requires an external air supply.

Assembly Instructions

Prep the parts

  1. Place the [6-32 inserts] into the Adapter back plate.
  2. Place the [6-32 inserts] into the Adapter middle plates.
  3. Place the [6-32 inserts] into the Adapter front plate.
  4. Place the [6-32 inserts] into the Reverse Mount back plate.
  5. Place the [6-32 inserts] into the Tool back plate.

  1. Clear the guide holes in the Valve support plate.
  2. Clear the guide holes in the Valve holder plate.
  3. Clear the guide holes in the Valve adapter plate.
  4. Clear the guide holes in the Tool back plate.

Assemble the valve holder

  1. Find which side of the valve holder will fit the valve. Mark this side. Usually only one side will fit the valve.

  1. Superglue the valve support and the valve holder together using two paper clips to align them. Ensure that the marked side of the valve holder is facing out.

  1. While the glue is drying, move the paperclips back and forth to ensure that they are not glued in, and to ensure the holes are aligned.
  2. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the partially assembled holder and the adapter.

  1. Ensure that the assembled holder fits on the motor shaft. The fit should be tight, but it should be achievable with one hand and no tools.
  2. Assemble other valve holder likewise.

Assemble the adapter

  1. Attach the back plate to one of the middle plates. Ensure that the flush side of the back plate is facing out. Use washers as needed to keep nuts from sticking out the back of the back plate.

  1. Attach the front plate to the other middle plate the same way. The same number of washers will likely be required.

  1. Connect the front and back halves of the adapter. No washers are likely required.

Assemble the tool body

  1. Connect a side plate to the back plate using two screws.

  1. Repeat for the other side.

  1. Use three screws connect the bottom plate to the tool body.

  1. Align the motor stabilizer so that the opening in it is flush with the bottom plate and secure it with three screws.

  1. Assemble the reverse mount using four screws and washers as needed to keep the screws from sticking out.

  1. Connect the reverse mount to the tool body using four screws.

  1. Choose which syringe stabilizer is needed and attach it using four screws.

  1. Use the four motor screws to connect a motor to the back plate.

  1. Do the same for the other motor.

  1. Put each of the valve holders on the motor shafts.

Assemble the Valve Stabilizer

  1. Join the top plate and the back plate.
  2. Add the bottom plate.
  3. Add the front plate

  1. Secure the valve stabilizer with three screws.

Put syringes in the valve tool

  1. Put the syringes in the valve stabilizer, one at a time.

  1. Align the valves with the valve holders on the tool.
  2. Gently slide the valve stabilizer onto the tool, ensuring that the valves fit into the valve holders. Do not force them. Doing so may damage the valves. File the valve holder if necessary.

  1. Secure the valve stabilizer with four screws.

Attach the adapter to the tool

  1. This should be done after the adapter has been mounted to the chassis. It is showed here for reference.
  2. Slide the adapter into the reverse tool mount.
  3. Attach using a thumb screw.
