Welcome to the valve holder page. This page contains the detailed assembly instructions for the Model II servo valve holder shared by all of the servo tools for the Fab@Home Model II fabber listed here. The Duel syringe Valve tool which uses snap motors does not share this valve holder. The instructions for that valve holder are on the Duel syringe Valve tool page.

Assembly

Prep the parts

  1. Clear the guide holes in the valve clamp plate.
  2. Clear the guide holes in the valve adapter plate.

Assemble

Generally, the laser cut acrylic pieces will have a face with sharper edges - the DOWN FACE - which was laying down, facing away from the laser during cutting, and a face with more rounded edges - the UP FACE - which faced toward the laser during cutting. It is very important that you glue the down faces together. Not doing this will make it difficult to put the valve holder on the valve or on the motor. If you are not sure which side is which, try putting the valve clamp late on the valve and the valve adapter plate on the motor. If it fits, that is the correct orientation. If you somehow get the parts glued together wrong and they do not fit either the valve or the motor, file them until they do. # Superglue the valve adapter and the valve clamp together using two paper clips to align them. Ensure that down faces are being glued together, and not the up faces.

  1. While the glue is drying, move the paperclips back and forth to ensure that they are not glued in, and to ensure the holes are aligned.
  2. Remove the paperclips.
  3. Repeat until all the valve holders are completed.
  4. Do not try to put the valve holders on the valves or the motors before the glue is completely dried.
