Model 2.1

Goals

• cost reduction
  • reduce the cost of bearings
  • reduce the cost of belts
• design simplification
• hardware interaction standards

Proposed solutions

• switch from ball bearings to sleeve bearings
• use solid belts to reduce complexity and cost
• have a standard motor mounting and coupling system to enable diverse motors and electronics packages.

Long term unassigned goals

• reduce cost of controls by developing custom electronics.
